This is a known problem with MythTV, it doesn't support v4l2. Therefor it uses
the v4l-compatibility layer of v4l2. So the built-in audio of v4l2 is
sometimes a bit screwy when used with Myth.

How I solved it, use v4lctl to set the volume at 70% (or so) and unmute it.
you need to unmute the volume every time at boot-up. AFAIK like this:
$ v4lctl volume 70%
$ v4lctl volume unmute

You should know that the device will mute the audio a soon as soon as you tune
a bad frequency (no carrier signal). Yes, this can be annoying.

v4lctl is inlcuded in the xawtv packages on most distro's, be sure not to
unstall it (like I did once, aka recordings with no sound...). btw, I was
unaware that the saa7133 also had the built-in audio digitizer.

If nothing helps, you could also try asking your question on the v4l
mailinglist.
