I downloaded and installed MythCVS the other night, and some things work
much better, but I've got some pretty major quirks. I'm running an
nForce2 chipset, Athlon XP 2000+, one 350, and one WinTV Go card, Ivtv
10pre2, ivtvdev X driver. Watching live TV seems to work okay, with
very low CPU utilization, usually less than 1 percent. When I bring up
PIP it pins the processor and both screens chop up, and sometimes I have
to restart mythfrontend. It seems to record two programs simultaneously
okay, however when I go to watch a show that was recorded under the
WinTV go card, mythfrontend freezes and I have to restart. I don't see
the CPU spike while this is happening. Sometimes the entire box crashes
and I have to power down. This also happen sometimes while watching
recordings, while two recordings are going on. Anyone seen this kind of
thing before?

Here's my bttv dmesg output (after a crash):

Here are the defines from my settings.pro

Sometime the mythbackend.log has messages like this:
2004-04-11 18:50:37 IOBOUND - blocking in ThreadedFileWriter::Write()

and this:
Unknown video codec
Please go into the TV Settings, Recording Profiles and
setup the four 'Software Encoders' profiles.
Assuming RTjpeg for now.
Unknown audio codec

I don't think the last one is really an error, though, it should be fine
with the default software encoding options, right?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
