[mythtv-users] Observation, Feature Request, Bug found?

I finally got my MythTV box setup, working with a TIVO remote, and I'll
be plugging it into the DVI
of my widescreen this weekend.

Thanks for the guide, Jarod :-)

One observation I have made through my long journey is that my P4V533-MX
motherboard is
completely useless for ivtv. I am assuming it is because of the VIA
VT8235 chipset? Are all VIA
chipsets bad for use with ivtv?

I finally installed MythTV successfully on my junky ECS P4S5A MB, with a
1.7 P4. This motherboard
happens to have an SIS chipset which (I guess?) is much better.

Now I have been trying to make this box as identical to Tivo as
possible. It seems others have
run into this problem, and I have seen this in a previous post.

I would also love to be able to bounce back into the Menu, watch a
previously recorded show, and all the while LiveTV is still buffering
the channel that was tuned earlier.

It sounds like someone has comeup with a patch as seen in another post
(see below).
I would be interested in helping test this.

I have come up with a clumsy workaround that will auto-record the show
before I leave "LiveTV" mode then
I have to go to the "Play Recordings" menu and select the program I
started recording earlier.

Unfortunately, I have to go back to that "Play Recordings" menu press
"I" then "Stop" the recording in order to change channels again. Oh
Well...

While doing this workaround I believe I have found a bug, (not sure if
it is known). When I "stop" the recording in the manner mentioned above,
and then re-enter LiveTV mode, I can no longer record that channel.

I have to change the channel in LiveTV, and then recording will start
working again.

I hope this is helpful, Mike.
