I suspect it may not help the OP, as he's indicated he has a bunch of 
aliases in multiple domains dumping into the same inbox, which leaves 
much to the imagination as to the complexities of his email setup.  For 
sure it's not a simple 'MUA-fetch-directly-from-ISP-POP-server' setup, 
like most people have.

But yes, you're right; it's certainly worth a check.
