VNC works fine for controlling Myth.
I've been opening up a vnc session to my myth box and starting up the
various programs via xterm's so that I can monitor their output. The
xterm that I start mythfrontend with I simply do an 'export
DISPLAY=<frontendip>:0.0' on before executing.
