[mythtv-users] ssh tunnel/export display

I have seen references to others doing this (Chris P.?) but I'm not
sure... what I need to do is remote display (export DISPLAY) my
mythfrontend from my main box (also the backend box) to another machine
(a Mac OS X machine in this case). I can do that either with ssh
tunnelling or plain "export DISPLAY=xx.xx.xx.xx:0" and it all works...
UNTIL its time to play video.

Myth opens the window, but its just black and won't display anything
(nor accept input). I have to kill the frontend process. The output at
the process side looks normal:

-----------------
Xlib: extension "XInputExtension" missing on display "dahak:0.0".

I know performance would be bad (and no sound), but I think it would do
for editing cutlists, quick checks of things, etc.

Since its a Mac and the frontend won't run there (yet???? :-)), then
this looks to be my best chance...

Help?
