Based on the fact that only a small subset of the population actually 
like upgrading appliances regularly, you can guarantee you will see 
external converter boxes, which means MythTV will work, even if with an 
external decoder... The recent general trend towards Multimedia PCs also 
strongly suggests to me you *will* find expansion cards for PCs that 
also can handle the new standard(s).  Oh, yeah, and add 5 years to those 
numbers for Canada to adopt.
