mpeg2 support generally comes via dvd software.  There *is* a free mpeg2
codec for windows, but you'll have to find it on google.  Quicktime 6
(at least the mac version) should play mpeg2 files just fine.

But if you're running this from windows, why not just install the
software that came with the hauppauge card?  It should have an mpeg
codec.
