The video out is really only dependent on your video card (correct me if I'm
wrong, I'm not on .12 yet and last time I used CVS was before i moved so 3
weeks ago).  Can you see X windows on your monitor?  What exactly happens
when you invoke mythbackend and mythfrontend?  Any messages on the command
line?  For the real tv out, you'll need to set up your XF86Config settings
to output through your video card's S-Video, and that's independent of
Mythtv.

Need a little more info here.  What are the actual relevant lines in
/var/log/messages?  Does anything extra show up there when you run irw and
press buttons on the remote? (try 'tail -f /var/log/messages' for a live
update)
