I wasn't sure if it was compiled in static, or if it needed to be linked.
This is why I was asking what mythtranscode actually calls/does. Makes
perfect sense to not be installed if they are just used for source files
though.

OK, so I know it's segfaulting after it writes to the DB, and after it
knows that somethings wrong.

Until I put a link from /usr/bin/mythtranscode to
/usr/local/bin/mythtranscode it wasn't working. It was saying not found.
I checked my path after you mentioned there was no explicit path, but
/usr/local/bin is in there. I remember from previous conversations there
was someone else with a fresh install that had the same issue.

I just read this sentence like 5 times, and finally it occurs to me that I
might be looking at the transcoders in the wrong way. The transcoder
screen is for Transcoding "from", while I was thinking Transcoding "to".
When I get home tonight I'll take a look at these settings again.

If that fixes it, I'll send you my address and you can mail me a shoe that
I can kick myself with for you :)
