[mythtv-users] mythtvosd gaim plugin

i've applied the mythtvosd patch ( the callerid thing)

all things work, I don't have a caller id modem, or land line though...

but I would like to use the mythtvosd programm for displaying buddy signons 
from gaim .

I used to have a xosd plugin for gaim, but that doesn't work anymore, and my 
mythbox runs
on a different box now.

But with the mythtvosd udp system i tought it would be possible to write a 
plugin for gaim
that when a buddy signs on, it calls the mythtvosd programm and passes the 
buddy name so that it turns up on my tv screen?

i did some searching on the net, and gaim site and found this link:

but as i'm not a programmer i have no idea where to start.
can someone give me some pointers on where to start ?
