Did you change /etc/modules.conf and
/etc/X11/XF86Config as required?

Axel, I took the following steps and changes just 5
minutes ago:

1. Completed Step 7 of apt-get and kernel updates.
2. # apt-get install nvidia-graphics-kmdl-$KERNEL
3. # apt-get install nvidia-graphics-glx
4. # kedit
Got a segmentation fault
5. kate
Got a segmentation fault
6. vi /etc/X11/XF86Config
7. Modifed XF86Config per Jarod's instructions.
7a. Modified XF86Config and modules.conf per rpm -qi
8. Logged off and X attempted to restart. X failed to
load.
8a. "Parse error on line 9 of Section ServerLayout in
file /etc/X11/XF86config.
(EE) Problem parsing the config file
(EE) Error from XF86 handle Config File ()
9. Let Redhat load a default XF86Config.
10. X graphical login loaded. Logged in as mythtv, got
a "Could not start kdeinit, check your installation"
error.
11. In safe mode, # rpm -e nvidia-graphics-glx.
12. # cp initial /etc/X11/XF86Config bypassing default
and backup.
13. X and KDE loaded fine. Back to square one.

Also, ran
# apt-get install mythtv-suite
...
Step 13 MySQL
# mysql -u root -p <
/usr/share/doc/mythtv-0.12/database/mc.sql

I got the following error:
bash: /usr/share/doc/mythtv-0.12/database/mc.sql: No
such file or directory

I did an ls of /usr/share/doc/ and no mythtv-0.12
directory only mythtv-0.11.

Try rpm -qi nvidia-kmdl-... and read the description.

$ rpm -qi
