Just be aware that depending on your distro, the above command may only 
be effective until the current user logs out of the console; for 
instance, on a RH system, when a new user logs into the console the 
device ownership/permissions will be reset.  To permanently change the 
default permissions on such a system, edit /etc/security/console.perms.
