Hi,

there are basically two ways to play an audio CD:

1. Tell the drive to play track # as audio-cd. This drive will do D/A
conversion in the drive itself and send audio as analogue through the
audio connector on the soundcard.

2. Read the cdda-data in binary form. This is like ripping a CD, only
the trackfile isn't written to the disk but directly to /dev/dsp. D/A is
done in software or on the soundcard.

MythMusic used the 2nd possibility. The above error states that your
drive can't read the data. If KsCD is using 1. you won't be able to
compare the results.

Not all drives are able to read digital cdda data. Probably your's is
not. Can you read a data-CD with dd?

Sometimes using ide-scsi will help.

What drive are you using?
