[mythtv-users] preview image wierdness

I'm only getting preview images under cerain
conditions:

I'm using a pvr250.  I autotranscode to mpeg4 and
auto-delete the original, and I auto-flag commercials.

 - if I try to look at a preview (either with mythweb,
or mythfrontend) while the file is still in pvr250
MPEG2, a preview file is created and all is well.

 - if I wait until it is transcoded, and then try to
look at a preview, no preview file is created, and I
see a solid black image in the frontend, and no image
in mythweb.

 - if, after the file is transcoded and autoflagged,
and no image was created, I force mythcommflag to run
on the mpeg4 nuv file again, then after it completes,
if I try to view a preview image for the show, it
works.

Any ideas why It doesn't work in the 2nd case?

This one's driving me batty.
