        See section 5.4.1 of the HOWTO.  The address of the backend is
specified in "mysql.txt".  Make sure your remote machine has
permission to access the database on the master backend (section
6.5.1).

        No, the HOWTO says nothing about requiring a slave backend for
a frontend-only configuration.  You only need to run slave backends if
you want to use capture cards on other machines.
