[mythtv-users] Myth playback quality

Thanks to everyone who responded, here's more information as requested:
- I have a Radeon 7000/VE video card that I'm using purely for the
TV-out (which means VESA instead of Radeon drivers, and no Xv). I'll
eventually get an averkey or something converter, but for now it looks
pretty good.
- I've tried changing the interlace setting, as well as the next one
below it (I'm not at home right now, it's "recording quality" or
similar), and honestly I haven't noticed any change in quality at all,
good or bad.
Right now I'd just like to know why mplayer's quality is better than
myth. I can use mplayer manually by tracking down the newest file, but
I'm sure myth can do better and it's probably something I'm overlooking.
Is there a recommended guide for video quality terms? The discussion
of "artifacts" and such leaves me lost. I'll see what I can find via
Google, but if there's a particularly good site on the topic could it be
added to the FAQ?
