That said, does anyone know how long an S-Video/composite cable can be
before you start having serious degradation issues?
I've been debating whether to build a separate front end or run some
cables. My old machine that I used for my proof of concept is far too
noisy to put next to my TV. It currently sits in the back of a closet.
I'd probably need to run about 20'-25' of cable for the video/audio to
get it out to the TV (through the attic). If cabling was an option it
would be a cheaper way for me to start using my system "for real"
without having to build a new PC as a frontend. I've been considering
the Xbox route because it's inexpensive but I'm a little concerned about
it's TVOut quality considering all of the posts that there've been about
it.
