| I am REALLY beginning to hate top-posting... :)
OK, my bad. No more top-posting. :) How about inline instead?
| Anyhow, I just wanted to repeat this. The MS code-name for the first
| release of Windows XP Media Center Edition is "Freestyle". MCE ==
| Freestyle, and WinTV PVR-250MCE == WinTV Freestyle == WinTV OEM (more or
| less). For the record, XP MCE 2004 is code-named "Harmony", but I have
| yet to see a card incorporating that moniker...
I haven't paid much attention to XP or it's variants, so I didn't even
know that MCE was a version of Windows XP. ;) I wish the list archives
were searchable, I probably would have noticed this. Thanks for pointing
it out!
Regardless of what these cards were originally intended for, they are
doing a great job in my MythTV box.
My /etc/modules.conf ivtv section is simple enough:
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 ivtv
alias char-major-81-1 ivtv
options ivtv debug=1 mpg_buffers=30
options tuner type=8
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1
add below ivtv msp3400 saa7115 tuner
I have to remember to reinstall the modules when I rebuild the kernel
(which I just did today to enable LVM so I could finish adding a 120GB
drive) but that's no concern at all. (What's one more "make install"
between friends?)
| I hear the MCE 2004 release sucks much less than the first. Not that I'd
| ever use it.
