[mythtv-users] mythmusic can't find audio CD music?

I have a problem with mythmusic trying to play music from an audio CD.
When I put in a CD and select "Scan for Music," I don't see the CD's
tracks in the Music playlist selection. I had the impression that
mythmusic would allow me to play the tracks on a CD.

What I have tried doing is changing the device in the mythmusic setup
screen. I have tried all the available: /dev/cdrom, /dev/cdrom0,
/dev/hdb, etc. None work.

What does work is when I select "Import Music," I can see the track
lists and how much time per track, so this indicates it is not a /dev or
"device" problem.

I can load the music tracks via xmms (after quitting mythfrontend) and
play them there. I can even play MP3s in my music directory which
mythmusic has access to. The only thing not working for me right now is
the capability of inserting and audio CD and playing the tracks outright.

If anyone has any insights to why this is happening please let me know.

I am using mythfrontend 0.11 (non-CVS) on a Mandrake 9.1 machine with a
Sony DDU 1612 DVD-ROM.

Thanks in advance,
Shawn Kwang

PS If I am completely wrong about mythmusic's capabilities, that is it
cannot play a music CD without first ripping the tracks off please let me
know. It just may be I am an idiot and unaware of how to use the program
properly.

PPS I am hosting a party in a could of weeks and had hoped my friends
could stick their CDs into the system for music. Obviously I don't want
to rip the tracks in the middle of the party so a I want a "live CD"
capability.
