I'm running Debian (testing). I compiled qt myself a while ago, from memory. 
It is installed in /usr/local/qt-x11-free-3.1.2 and /usr/local/qt is a 
symlink that points to that directory. Environment variable 
QTDIR=/usr/local/qt. /usr/local/qt-x11-free-3.0.4/ also exists, and contains 
an older version of qt. I don't think it'll help, but I'll try 
shifting/removing it, just in case.
