	This is probably your kernel reporting an I/O failure, but it would 
help to know exactly what the error message is.

	You might want to try another piece of software to be sure (DVDRIP, 
the perl GUI for transcode, for example), but it sounds like a flaky 
drive and/or cable and and/or ide problem.
