Not a guru, but I think If you have a sufficiently fast network
connection like 100mbps, you should be able to save recordings to a
remote file server. You simply need to configure the windows machine
to share the drive and then use smb to mount it in linux running mythtv.
Something like:
smbmount //fileserver/remotedir /mnt/localmountpoint
where fileserver is the remote machine name or it can be the ip of the
remote machine and remotedir is the share name. You dont even need to
configure the samba server locally on the linux machine since the win2k
server is the one doing the sharing. Then its just a matter of pointing
Mythtv to the /mnt/localmountpoint to record shows. Ensure that the
permissions on the directory will allow mythtv to record to it. Also, I
cannot speak for ntfs partitions, I assume you are talking about fat32
filesystem. If so, you will run into the 2 gig file barrier in fat32.
Any recording over 1.5 hours will fail because of this.
