Thanks a ton for putting this guide together!  But one more thing for 
those doing this for the first time that may not have all the tools setup 
in advance like myself:

> The software that needs to be downloaded and installed is as follows:

Sounds good so far...

> I then run the following command for each segment:

> mplex -f 8 -o program1-%d.mpg program1.mp2 program1.m2v

mplex doesn't appear to be included in the above packages.  For others 
following this guide, I found it in the 
mjpegtools package, and used: mjpegtools-1.6.1-5asp.i386.rpm
