[mythtv-users] Choppy video until paused

Do you notice this when the TV is fading to black or it's all white? If so you
may be experiencing the same thing that many of us are. Currently the only
workaround I've found is to adjust contrast and brightness on every channel
higher. I'm currently testing 52/52 (34078/34078 in the db) and it seems to
have helped quite a bit. I know this sounds crazy, but at least two of us on
the list have noticed that this helps. Again keeping in mind this is related
to the all black fade outs or frames with lots of white. If that isn't what
you're experiencing your issue may be different.

Other places I've seen this include certain motherboards that seem to have
problems with the ivtv drivers. (They don't seem to be able to handle the
bandwidth of writing to the disk and reading from the card at the same time).
Until I switched to a non via 133 based motherboard I had similar problems.
The reason pausing may help is because you're prebuffering more of the show and
not experiencing underruns. Just another possibility.
