Ahh, I didn't do the rmmod step, wouldn't a reboot accomplish the same 
thing?  Don't remember if I rebooted though.  I did compile/install 
alsa-driver, alsa-utils,and alsa-lib as you said.  Can you sent me your 
modules.conf please?
