Sorry, haven't been following too closely, too busy w/the new job...
What exactly did you try to install and how? Installing xine via
"apt-get install xine" and then "apt-get install gxine" works just fine
for me. Worst-case, hit up shrike.freshrpms.net and grab all the xine
packages you can find there.
Oh, and I've built xine from source before too. It was pretty trivial
to do, but then I already had all the libraries on my system from an
earlier apt-get install of xine.
