It's interesting to see this post. For sometime now, I
thought I was the only one having this problem. Today,
I've counted at least three others.

I decided to do a bare metal install just in case I
messed something up while trying to diagnose the
problem.

I also noted, the "bleeding" reference for apt-get is
no longer there.

Good luck. Please report back if this works. In about
2-3 hours, I should be at the LIRC install of Jarod's documentation.
