I'm running MythTV on a PIII 450 with a PVR-350 and an older ATI
3D Rage Pro (the GATOS drivers work great with it, BTW). I'm using
the TV Out on the PVR-350 for watching TV and decoding MPEGs - at
full NTSC resolution.
When I'm watching Live TV, the system's using something like 12%
CPU, which is just the disk buffering. If I run:
dd if=/dev/video0 of=/dev/video16 bs=64k
...then CPU usage is effectively 0%!
I haven't yet found a way to watch DVDs through the PVR-350's decoder
(anyone?), but it's smooth on the ATI, and uses about 87% CPU.
The hardest part is that I can't use fullscreen visualizations in
MythMusic :)
Cheers
Jay
