Update… I got a response from the manufacturer… here’s what they had to say:

Thanks for your attention to our products.
We can deliver our ECCLE5000 from 1st July  because of manufacturing new models.
The price of it is between US$ 500 and 1,200 depending on its hardware architecture 
whether you need a 2.5 inches hard disc or PCMCIA interface.
I think we can ship it to anywhere you want even in small quantities.
Please let me know your requirements with more details.

This thing is running linux with a Sigma Mpeg 1-4 Decoder… more than powerful enough for a frontend machine… perhaps the company would ship one to a developer in hopes of opening a new market for their devices… I’m almost certain this thing would work… hell they already have a linux driver for the video decoder… and it is designed for use with a tv… and it already runs linux… hmm!
