[mythtv-users] Success - with a few minor problems.

I've been slowly building up my mythtv system and it's looking really
good, so thanks to everyone involved is such a great project.

Mostly my system is working well but I have a few questions/problems that
maybe people can help me with...

I've finally got the IR blaster working to change my tv channel. But the
external script is called with the channel name as a parameter. No problem
I though to make a small python script to output the appropriate button
presses for each channel - but the channel names that have been created
(using tv_grab_uk) are weird. Basically the grabber is getting the full
channel name but only the first 5 characters seem to be used by mythtv. So
I'm getting the *same* name for more than one channel. Is there any way to
get the whole channel name used - Or to make it output the channel number
instead to the external change channel script? Ideally I'd like it to send
"106" for sky one which the channel number I need to set my sky digibox
to, but I can translate from the "1044" than mythtv is using if necessary.

Secondly I'm having a few stability problems. After a fresh boot
everything works great, but if I leave it overnight (just at the main menu
in mythtv, not watching live tv or anything - and maybe have the backend
record a program or two), by about 18 hours later the system seems to have
become somewhat unstable with the live video pausing sometimes and the
whole program becoming somewhat unresponsive. This is not a memory leak as
free isn't showing vastly more memory in use. Restarting the backend and
frontend helps somewhat with the problem but only a reboot seems to fix
it. So I suspect a problem with the PVR-250 IVTV driver maybe?

Well that's not a very good bug report as I don't have much information to
go on but was wondering if this is a known problem before I put too much
more effort into figuring out where the problem is. This is with a PVR-250
card and a shuttle SN41G2 based system with 512Mbytes ram using the
internal video and sound.

Anyway, thanks to the developers for making such a great system, and I'd
very much appreciate any hints or advice on how to progress with those two
problems, then it would be perfect!
