[mythtv-users] installing lirc from binary

Hi,

is there a way to install lirc for a serial receiver from a binary 
distribution instead of translating lirc and/or the kernel? I only have 
an old 1.2 GB harddrive that can hardly hold a naked RedHat 9 system 
plus X-Server and mythfrontend. There is no space left for development 
tools and kernel sources.
