You know what?
I've got an Athlon XP 2000+, and my MythTV also runs choppy... except it chops after a minute.
AND NOBODY WILL HELP ME. </backlash>
Anyways,

Says to mount your harddrive with the "noattime" option.
Google to find out exactly what to do.

Subject: [mythtv-users] optimize MythTV
well, I am very interrested in optimizing my MythTV box, so that it will run much smoother, right now I have everything that I want installed and working (MythTV, MythMusic, MythVideo, MythWeather) and everything runs smoothly EXCEPT MythTV. When I try to watch tv it's very choopy and will play for a few seconds, then stop, then catch up and play for a few more seconds. The audio only plays when the picture is also playing... Also the menus are a little slow, and changing channels is very slow. I think I'm coming to the realization that I'll have to shell out the cash to upgrade my system because I do realize that it's old. BUT I still have hope that maybe I could just optimize it to run smoother with some tweaking of the settings...
here's my specs:
DFI K6XV3+/66 motherboard
AMD K6-3+ 450 processor
ATI 128 Rage 16mb graphics card
384MB SDRAM
Creative Labs PCI 512 soundcard
ATI TV Wonder VE tuner card
I'm looking into upgrading this by replacing the motherboard, processor, and RAM (and also adding more hard drive space, but I think that's inconsequential right now). I have a nice 1.0GHz Athlon and I would just need to find a cheap motherboard which supported DDR333 which I would get 512MB of. If you need any more explanation or anything please just ask. Thanks in advance.
