Since I'm quite happy with SuSE8.2 so far (other distributions have
other problems) I decided to stay with it and update the Qt. Since I
couldn't find a better Qt from SuSE I downloaded the latest Qt/X11
version from trolltech (3.2.0b2). I then compiled it in /usr/local/qt
with the following configure options:

  -qt-gif -thread -qt-sql-mysql

after building mythtv against this local Qt and running it under this
local version (check with ldd), MythMusic seems to work. There are
currently three minor issues with this approach:

- the basic font of myth changed (fontsize got smaller and uglier)

- whenever I startup mythbackend/frontend an error is reported:
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used

- MythTV/ShedulingConflicts reports errors in ui.xml (not matching
tags). However, it kind of works if I remove the "ES" and "CA"
   translations.

The upside of this approach is that MythMusic works again with SuSE8.2!

regards, Philippe
