[mythtv-users] problem trying to watch TV

Isaac,

do you think this would be a good idea: if mythtv cannot open /dev/dsp* it 
doesn't hang but proceeds in a muted mode.  This might make it a little 
harder for people to debug, not being sure if it's the sound card or the 
drivers or the cabling, but at least they can be sure video works and the 
problem is confined to audio.

What do people think?
