On a very related OT question: How does one reply to a thread seen in a 
list digest or in a mail archive, e.g. pipermail to get them nested 
properly in the tread? And not just show up under the original first 
question?

I've tried to STFW, but searching for e.g. "mailing list FAQ" or 
"mailman pipermail digest reply" and such combinations gives 2380456722 
specific hits e.g. about "Homeopathy Mailing List FAQ"...

Using firebird I post fine when I am subscribed non-digest to a list. 
Then my replies get nested properly in-context in thread view.

Am I correct in assuming the Message-ID field is the key? If so, aren't 
digests without Message-IDs just a nuisance to everybody?

Could someone let me know how to reply most correctly with e.g. firebird 
to a posting seen in a digest or in an archive like pipermail?
