[mythtv-users] Question to all the Hauppauge PVR350 users

I'm having issues getting X to run on the pvr350 output. From the error
messages in /var/log/XFree86.0.log I'm guessing that the fb driver isn't
loaded by the time X would like to use it. Where you do you 'start' the
driver and how? If I modprobe ivtv-fb early in the rc sequence (like
/etc/rc0.d/ivtv-fbstartscript) then I get a green screen on the tv for a few
seconds, but eventually it goes back to black and I get an unknown device
/dev/fb1 in the XF log...

Using mythfrontend on the monitor and sendout video to the PVR350 works
fine...i just get get mythfrontend to the TV

(typing from memory - always dangerous)
export DISPLAY=:0.1
mythfrontend

gets something like an unable to bind to x server..

I also tried putting an alias for ivtv-fb and /dev/fb1 in modules.conf
instead of doing the "add above ivtv ivtv-fb" thing...similar results, the
green screen just appears for a shorter amount of time before going black.

The pvr-350 can indeed be used as a display for all of mythtv. I currently
use it as my only X display. And yes, you can watch live tv with it also.

For more info and limitations check out the ivtv list.
