Sorry, I haven't followed the entire thread, but isn't that what you get by 
going into the Video Manager, selecting a file, pressing a number key, then 
unchecking the box next to "Include while Browsing"? I have a good number of 
movies that span two files, and all the second files are set to not show when 
I'm browsing my video library, using that very technique.
