In the car-stereo world, there are line-level to RCA converters that can
be used so you can use a stock in-dash stereo and have it go into RCA
input amplifier, in the event you are using an amp that cannot take line
level inputs. Most enthusiasts will recommend that you don't use them if
you can help it, the ramping up of the audio signal to an amplified
level then consequent truncation back down produces noise. Frankly for
any cost of adding these, you might as well pick up an inexpensive
SBLive card off of eBay. Even an OEM one will only be $30-40. The only
problem I would forsee is if you are using some sort of
small-form-factor situation where the onboard audio was desirable.
What model motherboard do you have? I'm not used to seeing onboard audio
that's only amplified-speaker out.

Subject: [mythtv-users] offboard audio signal processor
Hi Folks
Just wondering if anyone is using an offboard device that takes the
signal from the speaker output of a soundboard and prepares it nicely
for input to a (stereo component) amplifier.
Sorry if this is an oddly-phrased question - but the builtin sound on my
Intel motherboard doesn't have a Line-Out, just a Speaker-Out.
And I'd rather not try to feed a noisy, badly-amplified signal into my
amplifier.
I'm not sure exactly what sort of component I'm looking for (which is
probably why a few rounds of googling have been fruitless!), but I do
remember seeing some such devices advertised in the past few years.
Any help would be ..um ...helpful!
Cheers
Jay
