I was going to suggest the same thing... Use slimp3's server software. It
was initially designed to stream to their slimp3 HW players at first but now
you can pretty much use any software mp3 player as well. I comes with a
very nice and skinable HTML interface that lets you control all your
"frontend" players. If you ever decide to get one of their HW players than
you'll be one step ahead.
