I too have one of these cases, remote and vfd, and I'm not getting anywhere.


Running windows, with COM1 set to 1200 baud, 8N1, no flow control, I get
regular and repeatable codes from the remote - which I suppose is good.

 

But, in Linux, I'm having major trouble. I have lirc_serial loaded, but
nothing happens. 

 

My thoughts are 

 

1.	when lircd starts, it reports lircd(haugpage) - which I think is
wrong, as im not using one.
2.	When I try and complile lirc latest with a generic UART 16550A
settings for a COM1 device it fails immediately saying that the TOPDIR
variable is not set in pathdown.sh

 

Any ideas?


Also, have you had any luck getting the VFD to work, as I've not tried hard
on that one yet?
