Thor-

I got your change, and now I don't get the hostname error in the terminal,
and all of the "test" playlists I was creating earlier reappeared!

Thanks!!! (yes, 3 exclamations, not just one) ;-)

Thor, I had a directory name wrong, and pointing it to the right directory
scanned in music and got rid of:

"Your database is out of whack. This is not good."

I didn't realize that error appears on DB == empty and scan == empty.
Thanks.

But, the hostname error remains, and it's causing me to not be able to
persist playlists. I can create a playlist, save it, and it appears in the
playlist list. But, if I exit the music module and re-enter, it's gone :-(
So, I think I have something wrong with how my hostname is setup? And
somehow myth uses the hostname to load/save playlists? Do I need a fully
qualified address? I never setup a domain on this box, just the hostname.

Thanks again,

William

Subject: mythmusic problem

I'm having problems with mythmusic. I searched the archive, and I see other
people have had this exact problem in the past, but I can't seem to fix it
on my machine using the suggestions. What I see is:

metadata.o: Your database is out of whack. This is not good.
playlist.o: Hey! I can't load playlists if you don't give me a hostname!

In the frontend's terminal window.

First, the playlist.o error. I'm not sure how myth is grabbing the
machine's hostname. If I type "hostname" I get:

obergrim

The contents of /etc/hostname is the same. The contents of /etc/hosts is:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.1.100 obergrim obergrim

And the IP is correct.

As for the database being out of whack, I went as far as dumping the DB, and
starting from scratch using CVS. After the clear & recreate, I now have
musicmetadata which is empty, and musicplaylist which has 4 rows. (excuse
me if I have the table names wrong, doing this from memory) Musicplaylist
appears to have two rows with "NULL" hostname and empty songlist, and two
rows with "obergrim" hostname and empty songlist.

I'm running Red Hat 9.

Thanks for any help!
