[mythtv-users] DVB channels website idea

Hi Edward,

>> You can run the scan app to find all the channels on your card. In addition there is a website in the UK which lists all terrestrial transmitters (if you need it), and there are a couple of websites which list all the satellite channels and their settings.

This is what I did, but there's an awful lot of guesswork involved, like what the service/provider ids are, and despite a lot of searchign I couldn't find any explanation of what they were. It's also a laborious process going through the scan output and the tzap channels.conf.

>> Ramon wrote some code to import the output of scan and also to automatically look up your satellite settings from the website and import into the DB. Kenneth has written a decent setup app which makes it really easy to add channels to the DB, and he asked me to produce some code which imports the scan output - unfortunately for time reasons I haven't done any work on it (although I have some code here if someone would like to work on it?)

Please can you forward me the code you have (and also Ramon's code which I've never seen anywhere) and I'll see what I can do. I can't promise anything, but I would like to give it a go.

I have used Kenneth's latest channel editor patch - I think it may be buggy as every new channel I added (to an existing setup) was given the same id and hence they destroyed each other, other than that it is pretty good, but an automated process would be far preferable.

Thanks, Paul
