This problem is very diffused...Problem stay in mythfrontend (ringbuffer, i 
think) but is triggered from various factor...
In your case the cause is ,probably, ivtv or bttv driver...
In my case (DVB-S reciver) the cause is encrypted channel (or bad 
parameters)..

I have post for this in devel mailing-list but for they is not a truly 
problem. (i can remove encrypted channel) and i don't have capacity to 
resolve it.

I think that they are mistaking themselves, beacuse is necessary to resolve 
the true problem and not only single causes.....
But is only my opinion
