There have been some recent threads regarding DirecTV
tuners as well as Pay Per View which you might find
helpful. 

Try doing a search on rca.pl and ppv.pl. There are a
few more steps involved such as setting permissions
and COM ports than I had anticipated. Should be all
spelled out in the threads.
