	No, no... subtle difference.  I'm not saying no encoding while in
channel-surfing mode, just that you watch the live version while you encode
in the background.  That's different than the current method of encoding
everything and decoding the result to watch pseudo- "live."  The only
drawback to the user would be that if you hit pause on this new *true*
liveTV, you'd have to wait (2 sec or so) for this to go through the encoder.
Then the viewer would switch from live overlay mode to decode/display mode.
This would appear as a delay before being able to resume playback.
Everything before the pause point would already (still?) be in the
ringbuffer, so instant-replay still 
possible.
