Try the 'mythname.pl' script in the contrib/ subdirectory of the Myth
source.

I'll second that... I've been using this to do all of my DVD rips for quite
a while; works really well. The cool thing is it's just a wrapper around
the CLI utilities (mostly from the 'transcode' package), so for Myth to do
something similar would be mostly a matter of writing the UI (and MythDVD is
part of the way there already!)
