So, I'm browsing around this morning and run across a news article..

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=74&ncid=74&e=1&u=/cmp/20030829/tc_cmp/14100187

about a new $169 PC that lindows.com has released.

I bounce to lindows.com..

http://info.lindows.com/webstation/

and end up finding more information at:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=608176&Sku=N52-1096%20P&Tab=0

and this gets me thinking...

a 1.1 ghz machine.. 256 meg of ram.. a NIC.. a cd drive..

This sounds to me like it has serious possibilites as a diskless
front end for myth..

Problems:

1) video out... either a vga converter, or a old nvidia card in
one of its two PCI slots..
2) the remote.. normal solutions.. either roll your own or buy one. It
could be neat to standardize on a remote (see below)

To make this really rock, one could hopefully assume a relatively standard
configuration, and create a LiveCD for myth..

Hmm.. for probably $200 a complete PC that will do myth. Anyway, just
thinking out loud..

Or, to take this another direction.... PCI slot(s) for the tuner(s),
throw hard drives in, and you've got a backend..
