I'm not sure how it applies to the mpeg files, but Geoff has a patch
waiting on isaac that will get the streaming functions of mythtranscode
working to a point where my scvd encoder script can encode good svcd's
from the streams.

My script, otoh, is still waiting on me finding time to decode the nuv
header in a bit more detail so I can properly deduce the audio sampling
rate in the stream (not sure if I'd need to do something special for
mpeg nuv files)

yes.  Though I think there are still pending patches to make the mpeg
nuv files work better with this, too.
