[mythtv-users] black screen when running mythtv

I can't even get to the front end... ;-)
when I type mythtv in a terminal the X11 screen goes black and I have 
to kill it even if the system keep running. I can star and see 
myth-setup screen.
Is there a place where I can enter the setting on the commandline/in a 
textfile before launching mythtv..?
